What are Impressions?

The stage in which a web page is loaded with an ad. An impression is a chance for an advertisement to be seen, heard, or affect a potential customer.

Tracking Impressions to Measure Success

The success of a marketing campaign for impressions does not necessarily lead to conversion, but measuring impressions may help to give a clearer understanding of how noticeable advertisements are and how many views are obtained. This knowledge is extremely useful when other digital marketing strategies such as search engine marketing (SEM) and pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns are created.

Key point: Although impressions are often used to measure the popularity of an online ad, impressions often count how often a page is seen in the search engine results page.
